Some people think Christmas newsletters
are boastful
are messy
are boring
are burdensome.
But I thought all year
about what I wanted you to know.
I don’t send newsletters often.
I don’t even remember how to spell when I
am busy.
But even though I don’t put things
in the mail anymore,
please know
I thought of you all year.
I had you in the pocket of my heart.
And you,
even if I never had another drop
from your pen,
are indelibly written
on my soul.
