Sorrow shrouds, draft no. 2

On Friday I was so sad

I prayed to see someone

if only to make my sadness less sore

I almost missed my friend

Though I was two behind her in the store

You put her there

and I hardly saw her

Even though she’s been a dear, dear friend

When I did see her, I could not recall her name

I was so spent. Sorrow

Sorrow hides

Sorrow blinds and shrouds and hurts

I think I understand why the disciples

missed you at first

Her name is Bonnie

She is a sweet child and lamb

No sorrow is so great that it erases

Jesus’ plans
